Happy Harvesters 6 October 2012
Its time again for our next Happy Harvesters event, where you can meet up with fellow food lovers and gardeners, share info, and some surplus produce while you’re at it.
This month Ryan will be giving a presentation on the importance of seed saving and preserving seed diversity. We’ve chosen this as our focus for the day because it falls within the Seed Freedom Fortnight Of Action (2-16 Oct) initiated by Dr Vandana Shiva, a well known food sovereignty and environmental activist. Part of the presentation will include a look at what other Transition initiatives are doing in terms of seed saving, and what we in Port Elizabeth can do.
We’re also trying out a market setting, so there will be a few stalls with various garden related things on sale. Organic Footprints and Valley Harvest Nursery are among the stallholders for the event. There is still some space available so if you have something you’d like to sell, excess plants, seedlings or produce etc, be sure to contact us. R20 secures your spot as a stallholder.
We had a few folks asking us if there was an attendance fee at our last event. Unless otherwise stated, Happy Harvesters is a free event! All welcome!
