Newsletter Sept 2012

NMB Transition Network Newsletter – Sept 2012

Just a quick newsletter before I make my way into the Karoo to volunteer at the Klein Karoo Sustainable Drylands Permaculture Project’s next Permaculture Design Course for two weeks. There is a whole lot happening over the next two months, so check out the Upcoming Events at the bottom of the page.

We’re busy planning our next Happy Harvesters event too!
We want to try out a sort of market setup at the event for those of you who might like to sell produce, plants, earthworms compost and various other garden products. There definitely seemed to be interest in this at our last gathering, so lets give it a shot! One of our team members will be giving a presentation on the importance of seed saving as the event falls within the global Occupy The Seed campaign (2-16 Oct). Our venue for the next event is the new ACT Centre premises in 7th Ave, Walmer, and will take place between 11am and 2pm. Weather permitting, we can set up the market out in the garden. So if you’re interested in setting up a table, please drop Ryan a message on 0832652465 or email ryansnoopyallan@gmail.com

We ask that stallholders supply their own table if needed and make a small contribution of R20 which will go toward use of the venue.

Next  Saturday is World Rhino Day. The Green Renaissance team recently created reverse graffiti along the side of the highway in Cape Town, to generate awareness for the rampant poaching of Rhinos. This activation will be an evolving reminder, updated monthly to raise awareness for the plight of Rhinos. http://vimeo.com/47859216#at=0
