Whoops…I forgot to include in our June Events post details of things happening in the Baakens Valley during the month. Its been great to see this incredible space being used more regularly now for a variety of events. To the WESSA team and all those involved in the Baakens Valley Community Partnership… thank you, well done, and keep up the good work!
On the 2 June the Baakens Buddies will be building bridges (literally) in the valley…
Join us this Saturday 2 June in building two new bridges over teh Baakens River the Sunridge NGK. We plan to drop two massive bluegum trees over the river to form the bridges – TIMBER! – should be lots of fun!
Meeting point is at 08h30 outside the Voortrekker Hall, Sunridge Park (nexyt to NGK Church, Broadway Road). Best to bring lots of water, sturdy shoes/boots, hammers, saws, tea snacks, lunch (we may go a bit past 13h00). If you have some lenths of thick chain or metal stakes for anchoring one of the bridges, please bring then along! SEE YOU THERE!
On the 2nd and 17th the are Trail Run races taking place…
Then on the 10th is the SPAR Baakens Valley Ride & Walk. Volunteers are also needed for this so if you are interested, give Morgan a buzz. Details below…
Hi Baakens supporters. You are invited to join us on Sunday 10 June, at Dodds Farm, for 16km MTBike ride or a 6km ride or a 3km walk (dogs on leads are welocme). Great opportunity to ride and walk some of the best sections of the Valley. See poster post for further details.
We need volunteers to help with marshalling, regsitration and at the staging area – if you can help please contact Morgan 041 5859606 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are also look for a few last spot-prizes, so if you would like an opportunity to market your products or services to the expected 800 participants, please contact Morgan.
